This image is about my friend Tanessa’s ex-boyfriend. She was honest with me in explaining that she feels stagnant some times and it’s through her relationship with him that she has been forced to grow. We sort of had a time crunch as we needed the long shadows cast by the setting sun to make her image. I realized as we were shooting it that I was caught up in the business of making the image, and forgetting to feel it. It’s one of my goals as I do this project to remind myself of why I’m doing it and not just get caught up in doing it. So I slowed down, felt the big blue sky above and was able to appreciate the journey a little more.
